  • So for the last two days I've kind of been in a rut. I'm not entirely sure why, but I've been irritable and kind of ....huffy. But I got over it a couple of hours ago.

I used to think posting songs on xanga was kind of a hokey way of getting out of providing any original thought, but I've made a complete 180 and decided to indulge in the very thing I looked down upon....

    Sound of Melodies by Leeland

"We who were called to be Your people
    Struggling sinners and thieves
We’re lifted up from the ashes
And out came the song of the redeemed
    The song of the redeemed
    The song of the redeemed

Can you hear the sound of melodies
    Oh, the sound of melodies
    Rising up to You
    Rising up to You, God
    The sound of melodies
    Oh, the sound of melodies
    Rising up to You
    Rising up to You, God

    We have caught a revelation
That nothing can separate us from
The love we received through salvation
It fills your daughters and your sons
    Your daughters and your sons

    The sound of Your love
    The sound of Your love
    Is what You’re hearing
    The sound of Your sons
    The sound of Your sons
    You’ve won Your children
    The sound of Your love
    The sound of Your love
    Is what You’re hearing
    Your daughters in love
    Your daughters in love
    You’ve won your children

    The sound of melodies
    Oh, the sound of melodies
    Rising up to You
    Rising up to You, God"

This song just blew me away in the car and in my own small way I just had to bellow along with it. I almost went to the library and immediatly bought the cd, but instead I think I will ask for it for Christmas. ;) Life is wonderful. My library session is practically expired, so I must go for now. My internet connection at home is not worth mentioning right now. (So why did you mention it, you ninny?) Goodnight.

  • Another Post?! Whoop, whoop!

    Justin has joined facebook! Egad!
They kept me out for a long time with their little "You have to be in school or have a verifiable work email address, blah, blah, blah..." but I see they finally capitulated and let everybody with any kind of email address on, hooray!
I technically should be sleeping right now because I have to wake up early tomorrow to setup and run the soundboard at church, but I really miss typing on the old xang, so I will procrastinate on sleeping a wee bit longer. After all, sleeping is just like temporary death anyways, right? And who wants that? (*Looks around - nobody raises hand*). But I digress from what I wanted to harp on about. *Ahem*
No sooner did I sign into xanga then I saw some ridiculous advertisement or banner ad with Paris Hilton and her dog. There are three things I Justin Smith especially detest:
    1. The cultural standard that makes women out there feel they have to alter their appearance to look attractive to men.
    2. The fact there are women out there who physically flaunt themselves to cause some of the more pathetic members of male persuasion to become stupified with lust.
    3. Small, yappy, toy dogs.
I especially dislike yappy toy dogs. What is the point of such? They are not cute, they can't protect you, they can not fetch items that weigh more than they do, they can't save you from drownding, they can't herd sheep, they can't keep your feet warm at night (maybe your big toe if your lucky).
You know what, this is a silly post. I think I can better spend my time commenting on other people's posts. Goodnight everyone.

  • Wow, this thing actually has a space for a title now! (It's obviously been a long time)

Yay for two months of marriage! So far things have been great. We argue and "fight" over things every once in a while, but we always work through them the day of the disagreement. If I had to say what I think the two* most important concepts are to keep in mind while being married in order to be successful, they would be:
A.) Communicate - If you ever have a problem with your spouse, work it out on the spot if possible. If not, take care of it the day of so that you both forgive each other. Never take issue with something that he/she does and not say anything about it until the next day or after.
B.) Be giving - It's not about you. If the dishes need to be done and the other person is busy then do them yourself. Your spouse is much more likely to give to you if you give to him/her.

*Just for the record, marriage obviously works best if both partners have a working relationship with the Creator of marriage.

I still miss all you guys from UM, no matter how busy and involved things get down in here.
This years garden didn't turn out quite as well as I hoped, but we still got a lot of peppers and a few (small tomatoes out of it). I'm still waiting on the onions. There is still some oregano and basil too.

Me and David tested our first successful rocket engine on the 4th of July! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Next comes an actual launch perhaps?

  • Yay for internet access again! Right now I'm at my dad's house in Apopka visiting, but everybody is still asleep for the most part. Last night I watched "The Weatherman" (which was horrible) and "Wallace and Grommit in Curse of the WereRabbit" which was much more enjoyable.

So the one month countdown begins! It's pretty exciting. It will be nice to have most of my family and friends in one place to celebrate with me in adding a new member to their families as well as Nikki's family. It will be nice to have her with me everyday instead of our schedules always conflicting with spending time together. It will be wonderful to live my life with the one I love...

  • Whither do you take me oh life of mine? So much going on getting set up  the apartment and all. And to be a husband soon? I feel so incompetent sometimes (or all the time, I'm never sure which). May I put God first in all things...
